Tiny Chat: Fair Housing
“Housing is absolutely essential to human flourishing. Without stable shelter, it all falls apart.” — Matthew Desmond
Equal access to rental housing and homeownership opportunities is really important. This Tiny Chat showcases how state courts can partner with federal agencies, like the U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, to prevent anyone, including new immigrants, racial and ethnic minorities, families with children, and people with disabilities, from facing illegal discrimination.
Tackling fair housing requires collaboration and partnership between state and local courts together with federal agencies, and often requires review of both state and federal fair housing law. Learn more from two very special guests: Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Kristen Clarke and Assistant Secretary for Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity at HUD Janine Worden.
