To support President Biden’s goal of achieving a 50-percent reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from 2005 levels by 2030, FTA will engage the transit industry over the next several months to develop climate action strategies with measurable goals to achieve GHG emission targets.
On Tuesday, June 15, FTA will host a Climate Change Roundtable with transit leaders to provide information on the Biden-Harris Administration’s emissions-reduction goals and discuss the transit industry’s role in achieving the targets. The discussion will include presentations from transit agency leaders describing their GHG emission reduction initiatives, such as having climate action or sustainability plans or through converting fleets to electric buses, making facilities more energy efficient and other technologies. After the event, FTA will share resources and schedule additional times to engage with transit agencies on how the industry can achieve the Administration’s GHG emission reduction goals.
